Friday Quickies #30: Weekend of Food, Wally's Tent Sale and "Recipes"

Crazy weekend of food events for me (and these don't even count the impromptu outings!) -- first there's the LA BBQ Fest and Hokkaido Fair on Saturday (the latter already blogged about by ExileKiss), and I'm going to the Table Hop & Taste event on Sunday. And tonight I'm going to Seven Grand (hope to make it by 7p for their happy hour!) and Pacific Dining Car after -- any suggestions on what to order at either much appreciated!

Speaking of drinks, just found out that Wally's will be having their infamous annual tent sale this weekend with lots of superb deals (up to 80% off) on wines and more. Taking place both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., of course earlier is better so you can get the better deals before they sell out.

And finally, thanks to the LA Times for cracking the recipe to Traxx's oh-so-delicious crab cakes. Can't wait to try making them for a party (with my own special touches, of course)! On the other end, in recipes ridiculous, Sarah from Tastespotting/the Delicious Life pointed out this epicurious.com recipe ... for boiling salted water!

P.S./Update: the Dining by Design PR folks gave me a rundown of the offerings at the $45/person Sunday Table Hop & Taste. Here's the creative and yummy-sounding menu (along with Beringer wine tastings)! I'll probably be there for the first hour or two (have to work an event later in the afternoon) but hopefully will have a chance to taste many of these bites.
